Happy Chinese New Year! The beginning of the term 2 has been a roller coaster ride. However, so many different things had happened in LPC as usual, since I wrote my last blog post.
First of all, we are currently having a Chinese New Year break. Before the break, we did a few activities related to Chinese New Year, such as writing Chinese Characters on Red Couplets and making dumplings. It was great that everyone participated fully. Also, the local students explained to us about the different aspects of Chinese New Year – the culture, the customs, places to visit, the food. Moreover, the promotion team for Chinese Cultural Evening also gave hóngbāo (red envelopes) for the students. Here are some of the snapshots from the activities we did for the last week.
One of the recent major events at LPCUWC is North American Cultural Evening (NACE). The story starts with a high school prom and it narrates about a girl named Brittany from her high school prom to her college life. There were amazing performances and the cultural evening taught us a lot about life in North America. Also, there were delicious North American Mac n cheese served at dinner. Here are some snapshots of the NACE.
The other days were busy days and most of them were spent studying for the assessments. When I am not studying, I am either spending time with my friend, learning to cook noodles (only once), or immersed in Chinese painting.
(In our last Chinese Painting class, we draw the Four Gentlemen in one painting. The four gentlemen in Chinese Painting are the plum blossom, the orchid, the bamboo, and the chrysanthemum. )
That’s for today. Chinese Cultural Evening and Project Week is going to take place after this Chinese New Year break. I will write more about them later.
